Findon Storage Without the Drive South to Worthing

Book self-storage from Findon and Worthing is where you end up — BN14’s own post town holds the nearest real cluster of units, which puts the drive in the wrong direction on a day that’s already full of packing. Wolves flips that trip: instead of you loading a van and heading south, a crew comes north up the A24 from Ashington, around six miles and under ten minutes, and builds your own wooden container right on your drive. The full walkthrough of that visit is on our how it works page.

Nothing gets carried out to a kerb and nothing gets lifted by you — the crew works room by room, closes up the container on the spot, then takes it back to sit inside our alarmed Ashington warehouse until it’s called for. A single container runs from £21 a week, no deposit taken, with the full breakdown set out on our pricing page.

Storage Services in Findon

Findon storage means the crew comes to you — up the A24 from Ashington, around six miles, not a drive south to Worthing. It's a fully managed, fully insured service: your container is sealed at the door and stored at our alarmed Ashington warehouse, from £21 a week with collection quoted upfront. We also reach Washington and Storrington.

Cissbury Ring, Racing Yards and the Findon Sheep Fair

Findon sits directly beneath Cissbury Ring, the Iron Age hillfort that’s the second-largest in England and one of the largest in Europe — around 60 acres of National Trust downland, a Scheduled Monument, and home to Neolithic flint mines dug thousands of years before the fort itself was built. It’s also the highest ground in the Borough of Worthing, visible from most of the village below. Findon has trained racehorses on the South Downs gallops since the 1800s and remains a working training village today, and the historic Findon Sheep Fair, dating back to around 1785, has long been held on Nepcote Green.

None of that leaves much room to store anything. The village core is flint-and-brick period cottages, many close to the church and Findon Place, with small rooms, tight lanes and rarely a garage to spare — exactly the housing stock that runs out of space during a renovation, a downsize or a full house clearance. Alongside the household jobs, Findon’s stable yards occasionally need a tack room or feed store cleared for the season, and we take that overflow the same way — collected, sealed and stored, not squeezed into whatever corner of the yard is free.

Managed Storage vs a Self-Storage Unit in Findon

Compare the two routes and the difference comes down to who drives. Choose a unit and Worthing — the nearest cluster to Findon — means one trip to drop belongings off and a second, weeks or months later, to bring them home. Choose Wolves and that direction flips: a crew drives up from Ashington, packs and closes your container right on the driveway, then carries it away — nothing left for you to load, lock or fetch.

Wolves — managed storageA self-storage unit
Who drives & liftsThe crew carries, wraps and loads everything at your door — you don’t touch a box.You drive to Worthing, then load, lock up and drive home again.
Packing materialsProtective blankets travel with us to wrap your furniture for transit, and your container is loaded and sealed before we leave — you pack the boxes yourself, or bring in our paid packing service. You buy your own materials and pack before the unit even opens.
Reaching a downland cottage or yardTight lanes and awkward yard access aren’t your problem — the crew works around them on the day.Getting a hired van down a narrow Findon lane is down to you.
Getting your things backOne call the day before, and the sealed container is driven back north up the A24 to your Findon doorstep — unopened since the day it left. It’s the outward trip in reverse: hire the van a second time, drive to the Worthing unit, load up and haul it home yourself.
DepositNothing to find upfront — we never ask for one. Most units want a deposit before handing over a key.
Insurance while movingYour policy is live before the first item’s off the drive, and it’s still live right up to the last item back.A rented unit’s cover usually waits until you’ve locked the door, leaving the loading and the drive uninsured.
What you payFrom £21 a week per container for the storage itself — no deposit, published rather than hidden behind a form, with collection quoted upfront as a separate figure. The rent is only the headline figure — a hired van, the fuel and two trips down to Worthing all pile on before the job’s actually finished.
Size & price guide

What Size Storage Do You Need in Findon?

Most Findon jobs come down to counting rooms, not measuring square footage — each 250 cu ft container holds roughly a one-bedroom flat’s worth, so match your home to the table below and the container count follows.

Your homeContainers you’ll needFrom
A studio or a few roomsusually one container, sometimes part-filledfrom £21/week
A one-bedroom flatone containerfrom £21/week
A two-bedroom homeabout two containersfrom £42/week
A three-bedroom homeabout three containersfrom £63/week
A larger house or period cottage with outbuildingsfour or more containersfrom £79/week

Most village cottages fill a container or two and stop there; it’s the stable yards and outbuilding clear-outs on the edge of Findon that push past three or four. Either total is fine — you’re billed for containers actually used, never for a number picked in advance. Table prices cover storage and insurance; collection & redelivery are quoted separately, upfront.

Why our neighbours choose us

The Wolves Storage Difference in Findon

Local, managed and genuinely cared for — why local homes and businesses choose us.

Fully Insured & Alarmed

A single insurance thread runs end to end: it’s already live before your front door shuts on the last box, it holds through every night the container spends behind Ashington’s locked, camera-covered gates, and it’s still the cover in force the afternoon everything is handed back.

Local, Family-Run Since 2016

Wolves has been a family business collecting across this part of West Sussex for a decade, the same crew every time — LAPADA-accredited, Checkatrade-verified, and never handed off to a subcontractor van when a Findon booking comes in.

From £21/Week Storage, No Deposit

£21 buys one container a week, insurance already factored in, nothing held back before the crew even arrives. Book fewer containers than you first thought and the invoice simply reflects it — you’re never paying in advance for space you didn’t end up needing.

We Collect, You Don’t Drive

Findon has no unit of its own to visit, and the nearest self-storage in Worthing doesn’t save you the trip either — someone still has to drive. With Wolves, that someone is always us.

One Container, Four Ways to Use It, All Around Findon

A house move that’s waiting on a chain fits short-term storage; a downsize that’s taking its time fits long-term storage; a sofa or wardrobe with nowhere to go yet fits furniture storage; and stock, tools or paperwork for a yard-based or home business fits business storage. All four run through the same managed container, at the same £21-a-week rate.

We also collect from nearby Washington and Storrington, run south into Worthing, and cover Clapham and Patching along the same A280/A24 corridor — see every area we cover, or check container numbers on our size guide.

Findon, BN14: The Village Behind the Bypass

Findon is a small village of just over two thousand people (2,023 at the last census), tucked between Cissbury Hill to the east and Church Hill to the west, with Findon Valley spreading out below toward Worthing. The A24 used to run straight through the middle until the 1938 Findon bypass took the London–Worthing road around the village instead, leaving the old centre — and the lanes around it — considerably quieter than the road numbers passing nearby would suggest.

St John the Baptist church, built of flint and holding a rare 13th-century screen, stands close to Findon Place, an 18th-century house near the village centre. A short walk away, Nepcote Green is where the Sheep Fair has gathered for well over two centuries — on an ordinary week, it’s simply the open ground at the edge of the village.

Washington sits north, Storrington west, and Worthing — Findon’s own post town — south along the A24; Clapham and Patching are the immediate neighbours along the same corridor, with High Salvington out on the Downs between Findon and the coast. We collect across all of it on the same managed terms as the village itself.

We had a big move with everything going into a mix of long term and short term storage. Jack was very responsive and helpful answering my many questions as we got ready for the move, and the four guys on moving day were super efficient and friendly. They have their own storage facility too, which is reassuring and just makes everything more straightforward.

What Findon Stores With Us

Sale before purchase, a smaller Findon home, a cottage stripped back for the builders, a stable yard clearing tack for the season — each one goes into the same £21-a-week container, packed at the door and run up the A24 to sit alarmed in Ashington until it’s wanted back, with the collection run quoted separately.

Bridging a Sale-Before-Purchase Gap

If the sale side of a Findon move completes before the next address is ready, there’s no need to gamble on a spare room or a friend’s garage — the container holds everything until keys for the new place are actually in hand, however many weeks that takes.

Moving to a Smaller Findon or Valley Home

A move to a smaller place rarely comes with a smaller amount of furniture to go with it — whatever the new rooms genuinely can’t take is packed and driven off to Ashington instead of being squeezed into a loft, shed or garage that was never really built to hold it.

Emptying a Cottage for the Builders

Getting a period cottage down to bare plaster is a different job when the furniture’s already gone rather than shoved into one back bedroom — the crew loads it into a container before the first van of tools turns up, so the trades get the run of the place.

Clearing a Stable Yard or Business Overflow

Tack, feed-store kit or stock that’s outgrown a barn or unit goes into the same insured container, collected from the yard and stored until it’s needed again.

Local Coverage

We Cover Findon

Ashington, West Sussex (RH20 3JT) is where the warehouse sits — alarmed, insured, and around six miles up the A24 from Findon, under ten minutes each way. The crew drives that route in both directions: out to pack and close the container at your door, back again to shelve it at Ashington, and out once more whenever you’re ready to have it delivered.

Storage, answered

Findon Storage: Your Questions Answered

The questions West Sussex customers ask us most.

Yes — Findon and Findon Valley are both inside our regular collection area. The crew loads your things into your own container on site, seals it there, and drives it back to sit inside the alarmed Ashington warehouse, roughly six miles up the A24.

No fixed minimum — the container is charged one week at a time, so a brief hold-up in a chain and a months-long renovation sit on exactly the same terms. Weeks you don’t use, you don’t pay for.

Yes. Cover is already running from the first item lifted at the door, stays in force through every night the container is at Ashington, and is still the policy in place when it’s handed back.

A self-storage unit — the nearest sits down in Worthing — is space you rent and then manage yourself: driving to it, loading it, locking it. Ours isn’t a space at all; it’s a container the crew fills and seals on your Findon doorstep before taking it to Ashington, so there’s no unit anywhere for you to get to.

Yes — Findon and Findon Valley sit at the centre of a round that also takes in Washington, Storrington, Worthing, Clapham and Patching, every one collected the same managed way at that flat £21 weekly price.

Yes — Findon’s training yards sometimes need a tack room or feed store cleared for the season. We load it at the yard, seal it into your own container and store it at Ashington, redelivered on 24 hours’ notice.

Around six miles, under ten minutes up the A24 from our Ashington base. The crew makes that run both ways, so covering the distance is on us, not you.

Each private wooden container is a fixed 250 cu ft — about what a one-bed flat holds. Most village homes run to between one and four; the exact figure is settled on the day as the crew loads, so you only pay for what you actually fill.
